Zone interdite

One night in Nosy Be. Along the barbed-wire fences surrounding the power plant, a woman walks at an unhurried pace, a basket balanced on her head. The cold glow of a streetlamp merges with the headlights of an oncoming car, isolating her silhouette and transforming this everyday scene into something resembling a cinematic set.
Fences, utility poles and coils of wire occupy much of the frame, creating an atmosphere that feels almost prison-like. Yet the presence of this woman introduces another reading: that of ordinary life carrying on amid infrastructure, constraints and boundaries.
In the darkness, this solitary figure seems to move through a world whose rules elude her, yet to which she nonetheless belongs.
